Thomas Dorku was born in Woe, a fishing village in Ghana to a Chief Fisherman father and his mother, a fish trader. He was raised among twenty-five siblings; a large family by many cultural standards.
Thomas completed his higher national group diploma in cost accounting awarded by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ghana. His first job in the tuna industry was in Tema, Ghana with Pioneer Food Cannery Limited, a subsidiary of Heinz European Seafood, where he started as a fish cleaner before being promoted and assigned responsibilities in quality control and production. From 2002 to 2006 he worked for Bumble Bee Seafood where he served as operations manager in the Trinidad and Tobago and Fiji plants.
Thomas joined Tri Marine in 2007 and worked in the Technical Service organization assigned to tuna processing plants in Kenya and Solomon Islands. In January 2009 he was assigned to Soltai Fishing and Processing Limited, Solomon Islands where he is the general manager.
Thomas is happily married with one son.
